Theo Douchand-Poynder is a screenwriter based in London and Paris, working in English and French. Drawn to stories where grief reshapes family bonds, and where human relationships make and break us, he's written shorts, features and pilots exploring these themes dear to his heart. After going to film school, he worked across productions as a production assistant while directing short films. In 2022, he committed fully to writing and storytelling on the MA Screenwriting at London Film School, and building a practice rooted in a detail-oriented instinct, a broad film and television culture, and strong knowledge of the industry's trends. He is currently story-editing a television series for a British–American broadcaster, while co-writing a feature project in France, and has written a pilot sent to the BBC Open Call.
In between script reading and writing, Theo ventured into performance after being inspired by talented authors -such as Ayo Edebiri- who also work as actors. Since May 2025, he has trained at Ashley Walters’ Kingdom Drama School, using acting to better understand intention, how actors read and interpret actions and dialogue. By putting himself in this position and under pressure, he hopes to make his written scenes feel lived rather than designed, and to perform on stage.
Alongside film and television, Theo has also practised photography for over fifteen years, moving from street photography into portraiture, behind-the-scenes set photos, and finally performance captures. Today, he regularly photographs dancers, performers and sex workers in London, making collaborative portraits that favour presence and personality over polish. With his recent drama training, he also offers headshots to fellow actors.
